About the Coalition
The SDG18 Coalition seeks to bring about an 18th SDG – Zero Animal Exploitation
The SDG18 initiative was first launched in 2018 as a response to the almost complete omission of exploited animals from the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a means of bringing greater weight to the campaign, Beyond Cruelty invites other organisations and stakeholders to join this Coalition in support of the SDG18 initiative.
The Coalltion is composed of leading charities, associations, businesses, local and regional government and non-governmental entities. Beyond Cruelty collates together research and data demonstrating how the food system and other forms of animal exploitation are undermining the UN SDGs. It works with Coalition members to leverage their collective influence to encourage the UN and member states to adopt SDG18 and consider how to integrate its principles into the existing 17 SDGs.
